             Digital Camera

Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 Review

Rating:    Rate This:

Imagine owning a digital camera with tons of features and softwares to make things easy! Yes, you read it right since the all new Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 is exactly what you have always wanted to lay hands upon. The device includes n number of features and that is what makes it so very special. Let us find out more about this unique power gadget and see whether it has enough qualities to impress the masses.
The Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 is known to include a 16.2 MP lens, 3 inch LCD screen, Memory Stick Pro Duo, high resolution video capture and other features that you have always wanted to see in your camera. The device weighs around 1.3 pounds and has dimensions of about 4.1 x 5.4 x 3.3 inches. The camera clicks decent photographs and thus the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 can be compared to almost any of the entry level DSLRs available these days. It includes a mini HDMI port and a mini USB port for it to be connected to an HDTV and a computer respectively. The device boasts of an articulating LCD like few other models available these days. However, shooting snaps and videos with the articulating LCD screen has never been this easy. Models like Canon EOS 60D have a similar articulating screen but it does not match the skill level of the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580.
The Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 comes with a special interface for the beginners so that they can easily navigate through menus and operate this entry level DSLRs. Previously the users could never set the ISO to Auto but now we do not see any DSLR camera where you cannot do the same. Hence, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 comes equipped with a similar feature and is considered quite user friendly all the more. The Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 is a good point and shoot camera with good noise reduction mode. The device can reduce noise up to 15 percent even at a high ISO of 6400. Most cameras would allow you to click 3 snaps with a single click but this new baby from Sony allows you to get as many as six snaps at a go.
As far as the performance of the device is concerned, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 can power on and shoot an image in just 0.8 seconds which is incredibly faster than most of the digital camera that are already available. It is designed to take snaps at 7 frames per second which is again very competitive indeed. It is true, that in spite of all the positives that I have mentioned here, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 suffers from few negatives like zero control over shutter speed while recording videos, and limited choices of video modes.
Whatever be the case, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A580 is a decent and budget camera with features galore. Autofocus, optical viewfinder, Live View mode, articulating LCD and superior image and video quality are some of the features that make this device a wonderful camera to be laid hands upon.

SAMSUNG Introduces New 9 Series Thin And Light Laptop WIth Stunning Superbright Plus Display And Premium Design

All-new Durable Design and Long Battery Life Create Capable Computing for Professionals On-the-Go
middleImage
Series 9 Series 9
LAS VEGAS, NV, January 5, 2011 – Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation, today announced the 9 Series, a durable, ultra premium, lightweight laptop computer at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The 13.3-inch 9 Series offers mobile professionals and power users a sophisticated laptop equally suited for work and entertainment. Thanks to a stunning design, Samsung’s hallmark SuperBright Plus display and Intel performance processing power, the notebook ushers in a new era in mobile computing. The 9 Series will be available on display at Central Hall booth #12006, January 6-9, 2011.

“Weighing less than 3 lbs., Samsung has designed the 9 Series to stand out, completely reimagining the notion of the traditional laptop,” said Scott Ledterman, director of mobile PC marketing at Samsung Enterprise Business Division. “When designing a premium laptop like the 9 Series, Samsung wanted to offer an unforgettable experience without limitations. The 9 Series laptop successfully combines elegant styling, performance and ease of use in an ultra thin and lightweight package.”

Unparalleled Styling
The 9 Series is made from material known as Duralumin, typically found in advanced aircrafts and offers construction quality twice as durable as aluminum, all while keeping the laptop weight under 3 lbs. To develop the 9 Series with the use of this new material, Samsung created an exhaustive testing process to ensure that the notebook is not only extremely sturdy, but also constructed with the perfect look and feel for technology savvy users.

The 9 Series’ naturally flowing design takes cues from the sleek styling and sophisticated beauty of a premium sports car. The silhouette evokes thoughts of speed and performance with an ultra-thin 0.64 inch profile. Additionally, the naturally flowing arch maximizes the laptop’s ergonomic appeal, making it easier to use and a natural fit for the human grip.

Ultra Vivid Display
The 13.3-inch 9 Series features a LED-backlit screen, offering users the highest quality visual experience expected from Samsung, thanks to SuperBright Plus display with 400- nit brightness. Digital images and multimedia are brought to life on the 9 Series, assisted by a 100,000:1 contrast ratio and true-to-life color reproduction (16 million colors), enriching the computing experience for end users.
Additionally, the wide 160-degree viewing angle allows users to appreciate breathtaking screen images from a variety of vantages points, making the 9 Series easy to use whether in a user’s lap, on a desk or shared in a communal space. The laptop’s ambient light sensor adjusts the display brightness based on surrounding lighting conditions and reduces user eye strain. This innovative feature is complemented by an automatically adjusting backlit keyboard that adapts to darker light conditions with greater illumination.

Innovation Inside
The 9 Series integrates the second generation Intel® CoreTM i5 processor, affording users the latest in performance computer technology. Intel HD graphics, combined with the new processor, deliver crystal-clear visuals, vibrant colors and smooth high-definition (HD) video and audio playback.
Ensuring users are ready anytime anywhere, the 9 Series makes use of Samsung’s new power-efficient lithium polymer batteries, and achieves up to 6.5 hours of battery life on average. Lithium polymer batteries extend the life of the product with double the lifespan for up to three years or 1,000 charging cycles. Additionally, various charging settings, like a “Battery Life Extender Mode” and “Express Charging Mode” empower users with options to get the most from their experience.

Signature Samsung Technology
Samsung’s Support Center ensures all content stays safe and can help troubleshoot any particular problem. Accessible with a keyboard shortcut, the Support Center helps users manage their system settings or arrange for a tech-support web chat. Samsung’s Back-up & Recovery Solution also allows users to create and restore back-ups of system data on the device, or on a network or removable storage device.

Lastly, focusing on convenience and connectivity, the new 9 Series boasts USB 3.0, Bluetooth 3.0, built-in WiMax and utilizes the latest in Wi-Fi and USB Sleep & Charge technologies.

The Samsung 9 Series is scheduled to be available in February 2011, starting at $1,599. All Samsung mobile PC products are available through Samsung resellers and distribution channels, which can be located by calling             1-800-SAMSUNG       or by visiting www.samsung.com.

Nokia MD4 Mini Speakers review

Nicole Kobie

We review the Nokia Mini Speakers MD4 to see if they're worth slipping in your pocket

Nokia MD4
The Nokia MD4 speaker may be simple but it still pushes out sound
Published on Feb 9, 2010
These days, phones carry more than just contact details – they carry entire collections of music, too.
Most of the time, it's just fine listening via headphones, but sometimes you want to share and built in external speakers are usually pretty poor – as anyone who's been stuck on a bus listening to someone else's tinny music will agree.
To solve this, Nokia has released its own line-up of Mini Speakers. The MD-4 is tiny enough to slip into your pocket alongside your phone, but boosts sound nicely – something your fellow bus riders will surely appreciate.
Weighing in at a mere 130g, including the four AA batteries for power, the Nokia Mini Speakers are a slim 114x30x33mm. They fold out into a thin bar, presumably for better sound, shutting off automatically when snapped shut.
There's just one button on the speakers themselves, to power them on and off, so any volume control must be done on your phone, but given as they're attached, that shouldn't put you out too much.
Indeed, the speakers only connect via a 7.5cm cord - there's no fancy wireless Bluetooth on offer here. As many Nokia phones have a 3.5mm earphone jack, the Finnish manufaturer has included a matching connector in the box as well as an audio adaptor for other handsets.
Nokia promises 30 hours of battery life, so you won't need to carry spare batteries very often, as these speakers will outlast most phones. And, as they run AAs, they won't be draining your phone to keep going, either.
The sound is decent, but not stunning. It still sounds like music coming out of a mobile phone, lacking strong bass and sheer volume that other portable speakers on the market offer. If you're looking for fantastic sound quality, you may want to keep looking.
That said, though the sound isn't strong enough to power a house party, these Nokia Mini Speakers will do the job in more intimate, laid-back settings – like picnics, dinners, or the bus.
Available online for under £15, they're not as slick as many speakers out there, but it's hard to argue with a sturdy, well-built brand-name product at that price.

3d tvs
Now that more and more 3D movies have been starting to come out (A Christmas Carol, Avatar, Alice & Wonderland, etc.) is the future technology of home televisions headed the same way? Can we expect to start seeing the next generation gaming consoles to be in 3-D as well? You better believe it and companies like Sony, Samsung, & Nintendo already have some surprises in the works.
By the end of 2010, Sony already plans to begin pushing their new line of 3D TVs to consumers, especially right before the major holidays. Samsung won’t be far behind, as they have taken some major steps in the home theater industry, producing the world’s thinnest LED TV, and also planning to start releasing TV apps (similar to the apps for your iPhone/Palm Pre) come July. The good news for us consumers is that we will have new technology to play around with and prices for regular plasma/LED TVs should go down and become even more affordable. Just make sure to save your 3D glasses the next time you see Avatar, you may just need them for your next TV.

porsche 918 spyder
Most people wouldn’t expect a car that can go from 0-60 in under 3.2 seconds to be eco-friendly in the least, but the Porsche automakers beg to differ. This future car concept, the 918 Spyder, is supposed to be one of the fastest (if not the fastest) hybrid electric car on the market. This one-of-a-kind ride can teach tops speeds of 200 mph and gets a whopping 78 miles per gallon – double the amount most compact cars achieve on a good day.
This speed demon is charged by a 3.4 liter V8 engine which comes equipped with a lithium ion battery pack that can be charged from almost anywhere, not to mention whenever you hit the brakes as well.  No word yet on the pricing but you can safely assume it will be in the 6 digit field (estimates have been set near the $500,000 mark), and is not expected to be listed for sale on the market for at least another year, probably closer to 2012 or 2013. The bad news is that you probably never will own one of these babies, or anything close to it, but the good news is that future cars will benefit from these technological break-throughs and the overall quality of regular day-to-day cars will be enhanced. Way to go Porsche!

Thin. Light. Fully loaded.

Two cameras for FaceTime and HD video recording. The dual-core A5 chip. 10-hour battery life.1 Over 200 new software features in iOS 5. And iCloud. All in a remarkably thin, light design. There’s so much to iPad, it’s amazing there’s so little of it.
Watch the iPad 2 video
Technology so advanced,

you’ll forget it’s even there.

When you pick up iPad, it becomes an extension of you. That’s the idea behind its innovative design. It’s just 0.34 inch thin and weighs as little as 1.33 pounds, so it feels completely comfortable in your hands.2 And it makes surfing the web, checking email, watching movies, and reading books so natural, you’ll wonder why you ever did it any other way.

Dual-core A5 chip.
It’s fast, times two.

Two powerful cores in one A5 chip mean iPad can do twice the work at once. Multitasking is smooth, apps load quickly, and anything you touch responds instantly. And with up to nine times the graphics performance of the first-generation iPad, everything on iPad 2 is even more fluid and realistic, from gameplay to scrolling through your photo library.

Instant On.
Touch and go.

Pick up your iPad, press the Home button, and it wakes from sleep instantly. That’s because iPad features fast, efficient, and reliable flash storage that lets you access data quickly. So everything effortlessly springs to life.

Battery life keeps on going. So you can, too.

Even with such a thin, light design, iPad has an incredible 10-hour battery life.1 That’s enough juice for one flight across the ocean, or one movie-watching all-nighter, or a week’s commute across town. Because iPad hardware and software are made for each other, the power-efficient A5 chip works with the iOS software to keep battery life from fading away.

Two cameras. And a big hello to FaceTime for iPad.

You’ll see two cameras on iPad — one on the front and one on the back. They may be tiny, but they’re a big deal. They’re designed for FaceTime video calling, and they work together so you can talk to your favorite people and see them smile and laugh back at you.3 The front camera puts you and your friend face-to-face. Switch to the back camera during your video call to share where you are, who you’re with, or what’s going on around you. When you’re not using FaceTime, let the back camera roll if you see something movie-worthy. It’s HD, so whatever you shoot is a mini-masterpiece. And you can take wacky snapshots in Photo Booth. It’s the most fun a face can have.

Smart Cover in action

iPad Smart Cover. Designed for iPad. And vice versa.

iPad 2 and the iPad Smart Cover are made for each other. Literally.4 We designed the iPad Smart Cover to work side-by-side with iPad — and on top and underneath it, too. Smart magnetic technology built into each really pulls them together. The iPad Smart Cover falls perfectly into place and stays put to protect your iPad screen, yet doesn’t add bulk to its thin, light design. Open the Smart Cover and your iPad wakes up instantly. Close it and your iPad goes to sleep automatically. And here’s another smart part: It transforms into the perfect movie-watching, game-playing, web-surfing stand. It comes in 10 bright colors — including five in rich, aniline-dyed Italian leather.5 Choose your favorite, and your iPad will be smart all around.

iOS. The world’s most advanced mobile operating system.

iOS is the operating system for iPad. And it lets you see and do everything just by touching the screen. It includes all the powerful, innovative, and fun built-in apps you use every day, many times a day. It’s the platform for which more than 140,000 other amazing iPad apps have been created to take advantage of the large Multi-Touch screen. And now with over 200 new features in iOS 5 — including Newsstand, iMessage, and Notification Center — iOS is yet another reason no other device comes close to iPad.
Learn more about iOS

iCloud. Your content. On all your devices.

iCloud stores your music, photos, documents, and more and wirelessly pushes them to all your devices.6 So if you buy a song, take a photo, or edit a calendar event on your iPad, iCloud makes sure it appears on your Mac, iPhone, and iPod touch, too. You don’t have to do a thing.

LED-backlit display.
The view is amazing.

iPad is one big, beautiful display — 9.7 inches of high-resolution photos, movies, web pages, books, and more. LED backlighting makes everything you see remarkably crisp, vivid, and bright. Even in places with low light, like an airplane. And there’s no wrong way to hold iPad. It’s designed to show off everything in portrait and landscape, so with every turn (even upside down), the display adjusts to fit. Because it uses a display technology called IPS (in-plane switching), it has a wide, 178° viewing angle. Hold it up to someone across the room, or share it with someone sitting next to you, and everyone gets a brilliant view.

Multi-Touch.
Everything’s at your fingertips.

With iPad, you use your fingers to do everything. And thanks to Multi-Touch technology, everything you do — surfing the web, typing email, reading books, swiping through photos, and switching between apps — is easier and a lot more fun. When your fingers touch the display, it senses them using electrical fields. Then it instantly transforms your taps, swipes, pinches, and flicks into lifelike actions. Just like that.

Wi-Fi and 3G. Two great ways to stay connected.

Every iPad is built with advanced 802.11n wireless technology. It automatically finds Wi-Fi networks, which you can join with a few taps. iPad is also available with 3G connectivity on either AT&T or Verizon Wireless networks. So if you’re somewhere without Wi-Fi, such as outdoors on a camping trip or on the road, you can still surf the web, check email, or get directions.7
Learn more about Wi-Fi and 3G

Gyro, accelerometer, and compass.
iPad knows your every move.

With the built-in accelerometer, you can rotate iPad to portrait or landscape, or even upside down, and whatever you’re watching, reading, or seeing adjusts to fit the display. And now the accelerometer, three-axis gyroscope, and compass all work together. They sense which direction iPad is heading and how it’s moving. So games, maps, and other apps know your every twist, turn, tilt, and 360. It’s an epic win for gaming. And it’s just the beginning of better-than-ever iPad apps.

AirPlay.
Broadcast live to your HDTV and speakers.

Video mirroring.
See it here. See it there.

Video mirroring for iPad is great for every app, web page, presentation, video, movie, or photo you want to show a big audience. Just plug in the Apple Digital AV Adapter or Apple VGA Adapter (sold separately) and your HDTV or projector becomes a bigger version of your iPad. One plug, that’s it. Or you can wirelessly stream what’s on your iPad with AirPlay Mirroring and Apple TV. Everyone sees what’s on your display — even when you rotate iPad from portrait to landscape or zoom in and out.
